Ramiro Sarmiento

Senior Strategist

Ramiro has worked in policy and communications at the local, state, and national level for nearly a decade. He got his start at the 2016 Democratic National Convention Committee in Philadelphia, PA where he worked in press relations. Ramiro would go on to work for Kansas City, Missouri Mayor Sly James where he served as Senior Policy Advisor and managed transportation, public safety, health, climate action, and youth development issues. Returning to his communications roots, Ramiro later joined the US House of Representatives where he managed district communications for Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II during the outbreak of the global pandemic.

Most recently, Ramiro has served as national spokesperson for youth-focused organizations including Young Invincibles, a national research and advocacy organization for young adults ages 18 to 34. He also served as National Press Secretary at Run for Something, a progressive organization working to recruit and elect young, diverse people to state and local elected office.

Ramiro studied political science and international relations at the University of Kansas. He’s a Texas-born, Kansas-raised Latino and a proud Jayhawk. As a history buff, Ramiro has a deep interest in US history, foreign policy, and colonialism. In his free time, you can find him playing tennis and hiking local trails along the Kansas River.
