ACLU

GPS Influence’s strong partnership with the American Civil Liberties Union and state affiliates has helped them grow their brand regionally and nationally.  GPS has secured hundreds of local and national media placements strengthening their position as the leading organization defending civil liberties and civil rights. Through compelling digital content and targeted digital ads, we’ve helped ACLU affiliates reach influential audiences online, increase their brand awareness, and advance their advocacy and electoral agendas.

From planned communications to rapid response GPS has partnered with the ACLU to reach the right audience at the right time.  Several key issue areas and important pieces of litigation have gained significant national attention during our partnership. 

ACLU of Arkansas 

The ACLU of Arkansas affiliate is a respected leader on LGBTQ rights, reproductive rights, voting rights and free speech statewide and nationally. Our team leads comprehensive strategic communications for the affiliate including paid, earned and owned channels. 

GPS has highlighted the expertise of the small, but mighty affiliate, and secured national media placements in The New York Times, The Guardian, The Washington Post, NPR, US News, USA Today, The Hill, Newsweek, Reuters, Time Magazine, Talking Points Memo, Daily Beast, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Insider, ABC, Axios, and an in depth feature segment on NBC News Now

The GPS team built the affiliates owned channels from the ground-up. The ACLU of Arkansas work has been highlighted on Instagram and Twitter by celebrities like Elliot Page and Laverne Cox. Instagram influencer accounts like Sundeep Boparai, Diet Prada, and Miss Peppermint have shared organically trending posts.  

ACLU of Indiana

The ACLU of Indiana partnered with GPS to grow their earned media and paid media in several timely, key issue areas. During our partnership GPS secured local and national media placements on prison conditions and reproductive rights in the Indy Star, Associated Press, Reuters, and Insider. 

Through compelling digital content and earned media we’ve helped the ACLU of Indiana become a statewide thought leader on redistricting, securing statewide media, op-ed placements, and developing a content strategy including a video that reached more than 1 million supporters, progressives, Black communities.

ACLU of Louisiana

The ACLU of Louisiana partnered with GPS to help their rapidly growing affiliate and helped onboard a new Communications Director. GPS continues to elevate the affiliate’s brand and key issue areas by managing their owned and paid media strategy. 
During our partnership GPS has implemented strategic communications priorities. We’ve highlighted the ACLU of Louisiana’s work on racial and criminal justice statewide and nationally by launching the Justice Lab initiative. GPS has positioned the affiliate as a statewide thought leader on voting rights and fair maps by developing a communications plan on redistricting, which included the launch of a statewide video.
