The Challenge

The Indian American Impact Fund wanted to raise its profile as a leading advocate for South Asian American political representation during the critical 2024 election period. They came to GPS to mobilize the community’s vote and amplify the Impact Fund’s unique contributions across battleground states – and in so doing, advancing the overall political influence of the AAPI community.

Our Role

GPS’s role was to launch a multi-state, earned media campaign that would both raise Impact Fund’s profile and drive voter turnout in AAPI communities. Our job was to ensure that the Impact Fund reached their target audiences, drive awareness of the organization and its work, and solidify their credibility as a voice for AAPI political representation in both local and national press. We provided support through the elections, and were on hand to offer rapid response support on election night as well as post-election analysis.

Our Approach

GPS Influence deployed a multi-phase approach to earned media, using pre-launch and launch stages to maximize Impact Fund’s visibility, build media relationships, and ensure meaningful engagement across key demographic groups. We utilized strategic placement of exclusive stories, opinion editorials, collaborations, and Days of Action initiatives to collectively underscore Impact Fund’s vital role in making sure AAPI interests are represented in our politics.

Results

  • 1,800 media touchpoints—including op-eds, targeted pitches, press releases, and advisories.
  • 17 Unique articles with a $4.28M average ultimate media value and 462M combined article reach.
  • Utilized Impact Fund’s unique polling on AAPI voters for exclusive earned coverage
  • Held multi-date campaign events in key battlegrounds, supported by state-specific op-eds and media advisories.
  • Utilized post-election follow-up to assess the effectiveness of voter mobilization efforts.
  • Collaborated with Impact Fund-aligned officials – including Nabilah Islam in Georgia, Ranjeev Puri in Michigan, Arvind Venkat in Pennsylvania, and Jay Chaudhuri in North Carolina – to generate community-focused stories that amplified Impact Fund’s influence and credibility among diverse voters.

Outcome

Increased visibility for the organization; coordinated voter outreach efforts across multiple states; materials tailored to a specific, often-underserved audience in the political landscape
