Organizing Resilience

The Challenge

Organizing Resilience unites climate disaster survivors nationwide to drive rapid-response campaigns and reform the national disaster response system. Established in 2021, Organizing Resilience needed a partner who could support them in building this complex coalition with shared communications and public affairs plans, tackling both localized and nationalized goals and needs, while maintaining readiness to activate quickly in a crisis.

Our Role

GPS Influence partners with Organizing Resilience to navigate communications amidst the current political landscape marked by historic climate events, federal funding cuts, proposed changes to FEMA, and mounting pressure on climate disaster response systems. We serve as a rapid-response communications partner, media strategist, and capacity-builder—ensuring that survivors, organizers, and executive leaders are consistently positioned at the center of national and local conversations about recovery, equity, and resilience.

Our Approach

We create a consistent visibility drumbeat, establishing Organizing Resilience as trusted thought leaders in disaster relief and recovery. We put a focus on garnering earned media through press events, media advisories, op-ed placements, and original reports that elevate the voices of disaster survivors while raising the conversation on disaster preparedness and relief to the level of federal policy, as well as drive contributions and elevate established on-the ground organizations.

Results

• In 2025, earned media efforts resulted in 70 unique articles with an average of 5.62M Unique Viewers per Month.
• Created branding and built websites around individual campaigns, such as the Fund Texas Forever campaign, which sought to establish long-term relief for the victims of the devastating Central Texas floods.
• Placed op-eds both locally and nationally, including in Newsweek.
• Media trained survivors for interviews, securing coverage in publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Associated Press, and more.

Outcome

Consistent elevation of community voices across multiple climate disasters, rapid-response media insights, and establishing Organizing Resilience as trusted voices and thought leaders in the disaster relief space.
